Rhodium (II) Catalyzed Wolff Rearrangement of a Carbenoid Derived from an Indolyl Diazopropanedione
The Rhodium (II) acetate catalyzed reaction of 3-diazo-1-(indol-3-yl)- propane-1,2-dione did not give the expected intramolecularcyclization product, affording only 3-acetylindole in 70% yield.A reaction mechanism which involves a Wolff rearrangement is proposed.
