Activation of the potassium uptake system during fermentation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Fermentable sugars activated the K+ uptake system, increasing the Vmaxs of Rb+, Na+, and Li+ influxes, but sugars did not affect the effluxes of these cations.
