Granulomatous Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in a patient with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

A patient with an unusual granulomatous response to infection with Pneumocystis carinii is described. The diagnosis was made by open lung biopsy after two negative bronchoalveolar lavages. IMAGES:
