INFORMATION AND DECISION THEORY AS APPLIED TO ASTRONOMY: THE CASE OF ASTROMETRY AND PHOTOMETRY
Applying results from information and decision theory, in particular the Cram ́er-Rao lower variance bound, we place limits on the maximum astrometric precision attainable by a CCD detect or given the properties of the source, the characteristics of the detector, and the observing conditions.
