Marcus and Substitutivity
The paper discusses Marcus’s formulation of the principle of substitutivity. She relied on a notion of logical form in which certain problematic kinds of context are analyzed away. I defend a variant formulation of the principle in which the problematic contexts are accommodated in their own right.
