Synthesis of Tantalum Oxide Nanoparticles for Imaging Articular Cartilage Using X-Ray Computed Tomography: Visualization of Ex vivo/In vivo Murine Tibia and Ex vivo Human Index Finger Cartilage()

Tantalum oxide (Ta(2)O(5)) nanoparticles are used as X-ray contrast media for micro computed tomography (μCT) imaging of articular cartilage. The cationic nanoparticles are attracted to the anionic glycosaminoglycans in the cartilage tissue.
