Pneumococcal adherence to human epithelial cells.
Evidence is presented that pneumococci adhere poorly to oropharyngeal cells in vitro and that the capsule may interfere with adherence. A brief survey indicated that pneumococci may also adhere poorly in vivo. IMAGES:
