Signaling by the TGF-β Superfamily
TGF-β superfamily members (e.g., activins and BMPs) regulate diverse developmental and physiological processes. Their signals are conveyed through transmembrane serine/threonine kinase receptors to intracellular mediators (mainly Smads).
