Specifying cortical circuits: A role for cell lineage
Two recent papers, Li et al in Nature (2012) and Ohtsuki et al in this issue of Neuron (this issue), address the question of how lineage relationships between cortical neurons impact the development of specific connectivity and functional properties of cortical circuits.
