The metabolism of N4-hydroxycytidine-a mutagen for Salmonella typhimurium.
Salmonella typhimurium cells were grown in the presence of (14C)-N4-hydroxycytidine (N4OHcyd), a mutagenic nucleoside, and labelling in DNA and RNA digest was traced. The results show that this analogue is incorporated into RNA at a level of 40 mug/100 mg, and into DNA with a yield at least 100 time...
