In the title compound, C(20)H(16)O(3)S, the 4-methylphenyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 83.07 (3)° with the mean plane [r.m.s. deviation = 0.020 (1) Å] of the naphthofuran fragment. In the crystal, molecules are linked by weak C—H⋯O and C—H⋯π interactions.
