In title compound, C(16)H(9)ClO(4), the coumarin ring system is approximately planar [maximum deviation = 0.056 (1) Å] and is oriented with respect to the benzene ring at an angle of 22.60 (7)°. Intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal.
