In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(3)H(8)N(2)O(2)·H(2)O, the organic molecule exists as zwitterion with the carboxyl group deprotonated and the amino group protonated. In the crystal, the components are linked by O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
