In the title compound, C(15)H(13)NO(5), the vanillin group makes a dihedral angle of 4.95 (8)° with the benzene ring of the nitrobenzene group. The packing is stabilized by weak, non-classical intermolecular C—H⋯O interactions which link molecules into chains running along the c axis.
