Burn wound zygomycosis caused by Apophysomyces elegans.
A case of zygomycosis caused by Apophysomyces elegans in a patient having 25% full-thickness burns is described. Amputation of the leg was necessary to control rapid tissue invasion. The fungus was isolated from soil in the burn environment. IMAGES:
