Construction of a DNA probe for the specific identification of Streptococcus oralis.

A DNA probe for the specific detection and identification of Streptococcus oralis was isolated from HindII-digested DNA of S. oralis NCTC 11427 and cloned in Escherichia coli. The plasmid pOS1 hybridized only to DNA of S. oralis and not to that of other viridans group streptococci. IMAGES:
