Syntrophic association of a butyrate-degrading bacterium and methanosarcina enriched from bovine rumen fluid.
An anaerobic butyrate-degrading bacterium, morphologically similar to Syntrophomonas wolfei, was isolated in coculture with Desulfovibrio strain G11 from an enrichment of bovine rumen fluid.
