Multiple Regulatory Events in the Development of Competence for Genetic Transformation in Haemophilus influenzae

Cyclic adenosine 3′,5′-monophosphate derepresses enzyme synthesis but does not yield high levels of transformability or detectable levels of competence-related envelope polypeptides. Additional regulatory events must trigger complete expression of competence.
