CO(2) Production from Galactose in Galactose-1-Phosphate Uridyl Transferase-Deficient Escherichia coli
Escherichia coli K-12 deficient in galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase is capable of converting significant amounts of d-[1-(14)C]galactose to (14)CO(2), whereas strains deficient in other enzymes of the Leloir pathway cannot do so. IMAGES:
