Overproduction of cis-Vaccenic Acid and Altered Temperature Control of Fatty Acid Synthesis in a Mutant of Escherichia coli
A mutant of Escherichia coli has been characterized which overproduces cis-vaccenic acid in the temperature range of 30 to 42°C. The mutational lesion acts within the fatty acid biosynthetic pathway rather than at the level of fatty acid incorporation into phospholipid.
