Gyrase inhibitors increase the content of knotted DNA species of plasmid pBR322 in Escherichia coli.

Treatment of Escherichia coli cells harboring pBR322 with the DNA gyrase inhibitors oxolinic acid and coumermycin A1 led to an increase in the content of knotted pBR322 molecules.
