Identification of pilR, which encodes a transcriptional activator of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa pilin gene.
Two regulatory mutants of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, R1 and RA, that affect transcription of the pilin gene were isolated. This was done by introducing a plasmid carrying a fusion of the pilin gene's promoter with the lacZ gene into a bank of P. aeruginosa DNA mutagenized with the transposon Tn5G....
