Iron-induced DNA damage and synthesis in isolated rat liver nuclei.

Incubation of iron with isolated rat liver nuclei stimulated fragmentation of single-stranded DNA, incorporation of [3H]thymidine into DNA and the binding of 59Fe to DNA.
