Refractory massive pleural effusion in systemic lupus erythematosus treated with talc poudrage.
The case of a 31-year-old black male is presented with recurrent pleural effusion secondary to active SLE. Treatment with corticosteroids, azathioprine, plaquenil, and tetracycline pleural sclerosis was unsuccessful. Disease control was finally achieved by pleural talc poudrage. IMAGES:
