En 1904, Nathaniel T. Wagner vive en Xcalak, pequeño puerto mexicano al sur del territorio de Quintana Roo, frontera con Belice. Tiene 28 años; es un boticario afrobeliceño, viudo, protestante, y sabe leer y escribir en inglés. En 1907 nace Gladys Olivia, hija de Nathaniel Wagner y de Vivían Magret....
