Diodorus and the Halys oracle
Diodorus (9.31) gives the hexameter oracle that forecast to Croesus the destruction of a great empire, if he crossed the Halys River. The response may be derived from Ephorus and the latter, possibly, drew upon Xanthus of Lydia.
