In the title compound, C(8)H(7)BrO(3), the methoxycarbonyl group is twisted at a dihedral angle of 8.06 (4)° with respect to the benzene ring. In the crystal, molecules are connected by O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into helical chains running along the b axis.
